Urgent vs Important
Understanding the difference between Urgent and Important, can help us improve our productivity and quality. Some people get confused between urgent and important even after having so much of corporate experience.
Some-times we spend time on things which are important but not urgent and remain busy with these important but not urgent tasks. It is important for us to understand that the tasks, which are important today, can be urgent tomorrow. Thus,we can not postpone important tasks as well. But if we do not consider our urgent tasks quickly then it may land us in problems. It applies to both our personal as well as professional life too. For instance, I want my bike repaired on Sunday.The task was important on Saturday but it would be urgent on Sunday.
Important tasks can be:
- The task which take us closer to the goals.
- The task which your boss gives you.
- The tasks which you personally find important.
The tasks, which bring you closer to your goals, are important because your goals are important. If you share your goals with your team members, it would be important for you to put all your energy & efforts to that goal.
What's Urgent
Well ! Not everything is urgent. Urgent tasks are those tasks which should be completed quickly.
For instance, if I feel a problem in my body, I will have to go to the doctor urgently.
In my next article, I will write about the Health which is more important for success.
